From time to time I see new stuff on the web made by fans of Supernatural. Some of them are funny, some not. Some are good, others really bad. But it’s not the point. What’s important is the fact that the series has a lot of admirers. But why?
Not that it’s bad. I’ve watched two seasons and it was enjoyable. Problem is that it’s repetitive. Each episode is build around the same scheme.
I don’t like judging things without knowing them, so usually I don’t rate movies or books which I haven’t seen. This time however I must make an exception. I’ve seen part of Killing Seasonrecently. Story is simple. Benjamin Ford (De Niro) is one of the executioners during the Bosnian War. One of the people who were supposed to be executed is Emil Kovac (Travolta). He survives. And yes, he wants a revenge.
Huluwas offering two months trial on their Plus service. I’ve decided to give it a try and here is what I think about it.
On plus:
Criterion collection access - if you’re into old movies Full access to some shows - if you’ve missed something or want to re-watch such all time hits as Cosby Show You can watch Hulu on your TV or mobile device, but actually it’s also possible without Plus if you’re techie On minus:
First of all I must show off a little. I’m free again! Yeah, I’ve ditched my O365 subscription and moved to outlook.com. I’ve decided that paying 6$ for mailbox when you’re not using it for business is simply a waste. So far I’m happy, there are some things I’m missing. But there also are things which are better, like:
Categories - yeah they’re working far better in free version IM - as I’ve written before Lync is not very usable if most of your contacts is not using it; IM in outlook.
Taking into account recent revelations with Edward Snowdenand government surveillance programs I’ve started to thinking that maybe I should ditch my email provider and host it on my own server. It’s definitely not good when somebody is reading your emails, even if you’re innocent. Or maybe especially?
OK, so I would host my own email server and then what. Well, nothing. All my friends and family members are using Gmail or other email services from big companies.
In the age where music videos look like porn, good looking ladies are a must have for almost any movie genre. And especially for science fiction where nerds simply have to have something to make their blood pressure go up. Other than discussing if the laser used was feasible in real world. So even in trailer promoting newest Star Trekmovie we’ve got nice looking lady in lingerie, see below.
But Oblivionwants to be better than that.
I’ve checked many to-do apps so far, but I still haven’t found the perfect one. The last one I’ve been using was Any.do. And it was close to perfection. It had nice UI, almost flawless functionality and felt nice.
As for functionality. Almost everything was alright, but adding items to lists sucked. I’ve had list called shopping, so I’ve clicked plus near it and added the item to it. The obvious consequence to me would be that if I add next item it would be placed in same list.
Every fan of movies knows already that sequels are usually bad. There are exceptions, but they’re just confirming the rule. There is similar situation when it comes to TV series. Some series are good for only one season. Below are some examples.
Dexter. When I’ve watched first episode I was completely stunned. There was a series which had just everything I expect from good TV. Great and original story, good acting, proper level of “believability”.
I’ve read The Wisdom of Psychopaths: What Saints, Spies, and Serial Killers Can Teach Us About Success. It appeared as an advert on Scientific Americanand after reading a sample I was really excited and decided to give it a try. So I’ve bought it, read it, and am undecided. I simply can’t tell if it’s good or not.
From one side we have great writing, very interesting examples (not only from real life, but also pop culture), and the subject which is extraordinary to say the least.
I’m a horror movies, and books, fan for like forever. I’ve liked them even when I was small kid. I was scared like hell, but I’ve still wanted to watch them as they’ve had this special magnetism. Then I’ve started to read books and of course fell in love with Stephen King’s writing. This guy could write manual to VCR and I would still read that. After some time I’ve become immune to the fear presented in picture or by letters in the book.
